Hermitages, Nature, History and Art go hand in hand in this itinerary designed for those who want to "disconnect" and abandon themselves to the slow pace of life between the mountains and the sea in Abruzzo.
Program:
1st day: Arrival at Passo Lanciano / Mammarosa. The starting point for excursions will welcome us for this first day in the land of Abruzzo. Briefing with the guide. Stay and Dinner.
2nd day: The brigands' tables, walk on the blockhaus (Pic Nic in the high mountains). First day of excursions in the land of Abruzzo. Transfer to the starting point of about 10 'The trek will start from the Blockhaus on the Majella, along the old Montanelli path from the B. Pomilio refuge to the Tavole dei Briganti. The path climbs up to the antennas, then in the first flat part up to the Madonna, it will become more bumpy in the path of the mountain pines. We will reach the fountain and then the Tavole dei Briganti. The tour will continue going around the mountain until returning to the Refuge. Day 3: The way of the spirit and the hermitages, in the footsteps of Celestino V. Transfer of about 15 '. The very beautiful route will run through the valley with a view of the Hermitages set in the rock. The whole tour takes place in a very panoramic environment in the heart of the Majella National Park. It is not uncommon to encounter wild animals, but the most evocative encounter will be with the Tholos along the way and the Hermitage of San Giovanni all'Orfento first, the Hermitage of Santo Spirito a Majella then. 4th Day: The path of the stone huts and dry stone walls (Unesco world heritage site). The Path of the Stone Huts, allows you to visit the agro-pastoral complexes of particular complexity, almost the entire path develops within a vast area shaped by man, who has created particularly well-kept pastoral paths. For hikers, this trek on the second highest massif of the Apennines, after the Gran Sasso, will lead to the "Mother Mountain" starting from the northern slopes of the Maiella, where the beech woods of Passo Lanciano host the largest concentration of stone huts. .. They are domed houses that recall the Mediterranean tholos prototypes of the Greek civilization and that resemble Sardinian nuraghi and Apulian trulli. Come back in. Stay and Dinner. 5th Day: The San Giovanni Waterfall. With a transfer of about 30 ', we reach the fresh and deeply engraved valley of the Vesola is characterized by the presence of the well-known San Giovanni waterfalls. A nice walk between streams where various amphibians reproduce including the Salamandrina Perspicillata or the spectacles. The small and rare carnivorous plant Pinguicola fiorii is also reported in the area. We will return on the same path to reach the historic center of Guardiagrele with the collegiate church of Santa Maria Maggiore, the church of San Nicola Greco, the Duomo museum, the Porta San Giovanni with the wrought iron artisan shops and the pastry shops in the center. 6th Day: Departure. After breakfast, departure for the respective destinations. End of services.
